Hey guys. First of all. Can anyone tell me about the $37.50 "seats" in the back of 54? Are these actual seats or are they SRO? Its hard to tell. I'd really like to see the show but have little money to spend. And...how big is the house? Will I have a hard time seeing?
And my final question...I've heard but a few songs from this show? I'm not exactly sure if I'll like it but I really want to see it. And so is the case for my wife. I know for some people, such as myself, its hit or miss with Sondheim. Does this hit the bullseye (no pun intended)? I'm looking for opinions from those of you that have a love/hate relationship with Sondheim.
Thanks!!!

Hmmm...the first time I saw Cabaret, we sat at the barstools on the main level. It was five years ago, I don't remember if there was anyone behind us...I don't think that there was. I don't know if these are the seats you mean, though, since they were regular-priced.
The house is pretty small.

This is how it is listed...
Rear Mezz Row NN (Bar Rail): $36.25
I know what a bar rail is but what does it mean in a theatre setting?
remember, right now, the theater is still set up as a nightclub for Cabaret... so the bar rail would be just that... Updated On: 4/29/04 at 02:11 PM
If I remember right those seats are in the WAY back ( Read nose bleed) The higher up you are the better view of the stage you get., but these may be too high up. Hope this helps.
Barbara
The NN seats are at the bar rail behind the upper mezz seats. (last row)
It's a row of high bar stools, which is nice because you can lean on the table in front of you, or you can set your five martinis on it and play drinking games everytime someone shoots a gun...They aren't bad as far as sightline go, you can see everything great.
Everything in the orchestra are tables, with the exception of row F, which are couches. Starting behind the couches (G,H,J,K) the rows are raised, then there is another bar rail (L) behind the last row in the orchestra.
A lot of people say that the front Mezz is the best spot, but there are also people who love sitting in B and C and being REALLY close. (or A if you can handle it).
Hope that answers your questions...
Oh, and to the second question, go this this production. It is the best one of Assassins I have ever seen. And probably ever will see. Joe Mantello has redeveloped this show with Sondheim and Weidman, and is well worth it.
Best thing I've seen on Broadway in along time.
Those seats are great! I've seen Assassins from the back row twice now and it's just as good as another else...there's nothing that you miss. My suggestion, however, if you live in New York, is to go the day you want to see the show and see if they have any general rush tickets available. They are for the same seats, but only cost $26. I bought a rush ticket less than half an hour before the show on Tuesday night and had a great time!
Hope it works out for you!
roddick, do you think that would work on a saturday afternoon?

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'm really going to try to see this before it closes. I live in Salem, just outside of Boston, so its not too hard to get to NYC.
