Secret Garden Audition

There is an audition for "The Secret Garden" at the end of this month and I need a song to audition with. Do you think because "The Secret Garden" is very ballad heavy, I should DO a ballad? If so, what is a really good one with a lot of emotions (preferably one that is not completely overdone)?

I did the last 32 bars of "As Long As He Needs Me" from Oliver and got one of the 12 spots in the cast. What is your vocal range? My Friend auditioned with "I could have danced all night" and got Marys' mom.

I'd DEF. do a ballad.

I don't know the show, but figure out what character you would most likely fit. Then pick something that could be sung by that character (only isn't....lol).

Does that make sense?

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

Stephanie . . . First off, you NEED to get that cast recording, because "The Secret Garden" has the most GORGEOUS music.

The part that I really want is Archibald. So, today my missions is to go through my entire musical cast recording collection to find a song. Which, brings me to another question. At auditions, is it okay to bring a photocopy of the music or is it better to bring the actual music book?

UPDATE: I just went to the website of the theatre company putting this on, and it says to sing a song FROM or in the style of the show. Because they said that I can sing a song from the show, would you?

You should sing WHERE IN THE WORLD. It's Archibald's number toward the end of ACT 2.
Or A Bit of Earth from Act 1.

I adore SECRET GARDEN.
I was Major Holmes in it, this summer.

I JUST did that show in November!!!!!
"Me name is Martha!!!!!!"
I'd say either sing Archie's part from "I Heard Someone Crying" or "How could I ever know?"

Martha's big number is "Hold On".
But she sings "If I Had A Fine White Horse" as well.

Lyssie, I sang "If I Had A Fine White Horse". I'd say try to get the accent in early like at the audition. That's why I got the part, cause I can do the accent.
