"Secret Song" Hairspray cd

I'm sure that many people know about the "secret song" at the end of the Hairspray cd. Listen to the end of "You can't stop the beat", and an extra little song comes on abound drunk driving.

Does anyone know why this song is on the cd? Is it an advertisement for MADD or something? Or is it just a warning for people listening to the cd?

The song was in the pre Bway try out. But then cut when it went to Bway.

it's a song that was cut from the show, but it was included as a hidden track

it was a song that used to be sung by link and amber on the corny collins show. it was cut from the broadway version in previews.

i'm pretty sure that's what it was. aww where's marc when you need him? haha.

Blood on the pavement, what a mess! Is that your eyeball on my dress? Don't drink and drive please keep your head, or come graduation day you'll be dead! Hands on the wheel though I know it's a drag, I'd hate to see that body in a bodybag. Kids listen up, cuz I'm his mom yes, blood on the pavement will ruin the rug!

Lol - I used to think they said "rug" but it really is "prom".

I also believe it was put there for a costume change.

Yeah, I saw the Seattle tryout. Link and Amber (with Velma) sang it as a Public Service Announcement early in the first act. Before Momma I'm a Big Girl Now sounds about right. It was very funny.

Also, the lyrics are, "Cause I'm HER Mom!"

Not HIS Mom. It's sung by Mrs. Von Tussle and it's aimed at Amber
