Hey iruvyou, I'm seeing it today too! Weird coincidence, huh? Maybe I'll see you there! Actually, I'm pretty sure I'll see you there. Where are you sitting, next to me? Okay, I'll stop now.

Have fun you both! Some people here will tell you the show is lacking energy but I don't think so. I saw it 3 months ago with mostly the same cast and I loved it. My favorites were Matt Caplan as Mark, Maggie Benjamin as Maureen, Jeremy Kushnier as Roger and Mark Richard Ford as Collins. The rest of the cast was good as well. I havn't seen Mel B but you should consider yourself lucky if you see her understudy, Karmine Alers (which there is a good chance of given how often Mel B calls out). She's awsome. Have a good time!

oh and I like both your icons :) Updated On: 5/16/04 at 10:49 AM

Not a Rent basher at all. It's one of my favorites. I just didn't think it needed to add that little bit of "spice" to it.

Make sure to post a review! And enjoy the show! (I love the music, although I too thought the cast energy was sort of lagging when I saw it last month.) Karmine Alers was AMAZING!

Hi all! We just got back from Rent, and it was VERY good. Suprise, suprise, Melanie Brown wasn't there! The understudy, Dominique Roy, was amazing. Roger, Maureen, Joanne, Benny, and Angel were great. Collins (MRF) was probably the best, especially when he sang I'll Cover You Reprise. Mark was pretty good, but overacted a bit (well, maybe a little more than a bit). He was good at Halloween and What You Own though.
Now, get ready for the song by song analysis:

Rent: Very good, really pumped up the audience.
You Okay Honey?: Angel was very good in this; some words were lost (although we could follow it because we memorized the score)
One Song Glory: Good; Roger was angry but subdued compared to Goodbye Love (more on that later)
Light My Candle: Mimi and Roger had good chemistry.
Today 4 U: Angel looked great in drag and is great at the jumping part, liked it more on the OBC though (as with most of the songs)
You'll See: Not a very remarkable song, can't remember it that well. Benny was good though.
Tango: Maureen: Much better live than on the OBC, they can tango really well!
Life Support: Good, there was a fourteen year old girl named Kayla who, for her 14th birthday, got her parents to donate a lot of money so she could be in Rent today; all she did was say her name.
Out Tonight: AMAZING!! Mimi accidentally said "...and flirt with a danger" so it didn't make a whole lot of sense, and everyone in the audience was afraid she was gonna fall; she didn't.
Another Day: Mimi was very good in AD, amazing song also.
Will I?: very touching.
Santa Fe: Collins was pretty good; not my favorite song.
I'll Cover You: Collins and Angel were great in this.
We're Okay: Joanne was good; song kinda gets on my nerves though.
Christmas Bells: Nice blending, but couldn't really hear Mimi/Roger/Mark part.
Over the Moon: Hilarious; Maggie was great.
La Vie Boheme: Energy was high for LVB, the cast couldn't stop laughing when Mark lied down on the table, including Mark.
Seasons of Love: Soloist was very good.
Happy New Year: Angel's costume was great; Some words were lost again.
Take Me or Leave Me: FANTASTIC!!! Joanne especially.
Without You: Mimi sounded beautiful; Angel and Collins' part was so sad!
Contact: Angel again was good; hard to hear people under the sheet (tee hee).
I'll Cover You Reprise: Collins was heartbreaking in this!! Wonderful.
Halloween: Mark was good.
Goodbye Love: Roger was a little too loud and angry, and almost knocked the table over onto Mimi, Mark was too laid back also.
What You Own: Sounded almost identical to the OBC so it was great.
Finale: The film looked pretty good although Mel B was in it so it confused some people, sounded good despite some sound problems.
So all in all, an enjoyable time, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be.
