I wonder if this is the listing the intern is responding to. If you look at the original e-mail, it looks like the first word is Theatre. Also, the subject does inquire about an Office Internship.

Wow, did he seriously expect to hear back from them within 24 hours? I've submitted for internships before and hear back maybe 5-10% of the time, usually about a week later. He has a way with words but is incredibly stupid in that regard.

I do think that the person thinking that they are going to hear back in 24 hours is a ridiculous notion. Yes, the ad in the link said that they were looking for people to start immediately. However, that does not mean that they are going to get back to you within a day.
