Forever Plaid and Plaid Tidings? offbway, lol.
I second KirbyCats's question. I doubt that the producers would close a show that continues to make money, especially in this economy but it would be interesting to see a musical as well as its sequel playing at the same time.
I never realized how many broadway shows had sequels. Actually, I never even considered the idea of a broadway sequel until hearing about the Phantom sequel. This whole thread kind of killed me a little bit on the inside. I can see it now though: Ave Q2: Return of the Puppets starring Paris Hilton as Lucy and Kevin Federline as Nicky...
I think you are right about Phantom of the Opera, and a good thing it is for Andrew LLoyd Webber--unless I miss my guess. This Coney Island Phantom sequel (times three) could well leave him only the third or fourth richest man in England.
There have been a number of Broadway sequels, but only one, "ME AND MY GIRL," was a success.
O Bway but Nunsense and all of its sequels ( ithink its @ 4 now)
One of the very very first musicals, "A Trip to Chinatown" spun off several less successful sequels.
So it sounds like everyone agrees that this "Phantom" thing is just a very, very bad idea.........
