Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any insight into what are the best theatrical set design books out there that cover everything from stage floor, curtains, fly systems, speaker systems, etc to set models. I'm designing the set for a high school production, and they have a fairly healthy budget, so I'd like to get a feel of Broadway set designs.

Thanks!

I think The Handbook of Set Design and The Handbook of Model-Making for Set Designers (both by Colin Winslow) are both really good books. Also Scene Design Rendering & Media by Wenhai Ma helped me a lot with understanding perspective and light and shadows for coming up with my renderings. Otherwise, just to see what people have done, Tumblr and Pinterest both have a really good amount of pictures of other set designs to just check out and see all that's possible. Good luck :)
