I'm really surprised to see that there isn't more discussion about this article on the theater boards. This is a Sunday New York Times front-page (above-the-fold) article about the professional lives of the people we discuss regularly here. As a person who is not part of the professional theater community I was pretty shocked to read how really regressive the current policies (and lack thereof) seem to be, especially for fairly prominent and established New York institutions (let alone the unions). And I was surprised to see that the Equity Union chose not to provide comments for this article. I sure would be curious to hear opinions from people inside the community about the issues this article raises. As we are often reminded here and elsewhere, it is show called BUSINESS.

It was interesting that the reporter suggested that there seemed to be a divide between younger and older persons attitudes towards some of these issues. I think it is brave of the people who did speak out for this article, and I applaud them, but for whatever reason they all tend to be from the younger generation. I sure would like to hear from at least a few of the "old-timers."
