What are your thoughts on this bit of casting folks? And with her son Patrick Cassidy in the show too. Isn't there a bit of incestuousness (is that even a word) for them to be playing Dorothy Brock and Julien Marsh?
Your thoughts, please.

Nepotism, maybe, but not incestuous. It's not as if Julian and Dorothy are involved with each other. It will be interesting to see how they both play out. I for one will probably go see it.
Don't Dorothy and Julien have a flirtation going on? No doubt about the nepotism though. Oh wait, Dorothy is involved with the rich guy. Been a long time since I have seen it. How old is she anyway? I wonder if she can still sing.
I think she is in her late 60s. I heard her sing on a program recently. She sang "If I Loved You" with John Raitt. I wouldn't say it was great, but I think she will be good in the role.

They should get the other two Cassidy boys, Shaun and David, and make it a family affair! : )
Haven't see Ms. Jones in much of anything lately. She was/is a good actress. I can't imagine her more than her early 60's. Anyone know for sure? I think the role of Brock plays about 45-55, so if Jones is in good vocal and physical shape, she should have no problem. It's not a demanding role.
I last saw Patrick as "Joseph" 2 years ago. He was ok, but nothing to brag about. To me he doesn't seem to suit the role of Julian March at all. But I could be wrong. I think he is about 38. Anyone?

Come on get happy........
I think this is interesting I'm willing to give it a chance. Maybe the colored bus they will drive right on stage.
It's great that Ms. Jones is still able to perform good for her.

She was quite wonderful as Anna in a production of "The King and I" in Atlanta a few years ago and Patrick is my favorite Cassiby brother- I'm all for it!
Shirley Jones must be at least in her late 60s. She was in the Oklahoma movie, which was released in 1955. I'm not sure exactly how old she was then but, even if she was as young 18, that would make her 67 in 2004.
She was one of the Queens of Hollywood musicals in the late 1950s and early 1960s and was wonderful in "Carousel", "Oklahoma", "The Music Man" and the Fain/Webster movie musical "April Love" with Pat Boone. If her voice is still up to scratch, I'm sure she will be very good in 42nd St.
