Shirley Jones replacement in 42nd St

I think Ms. Jones will be leaving next week or so and I was wondering who we thought should come in a replace her. She has really given their box office a shot in the arm so they should consider replacing her with another name. Any ideas?
Since Millie closed before the rest of the Designing Women got a chance to come in, how about Annie Potts? Or for real star power, why not Florence Henderson???

LORETTA SWIT IS THE GREAT BEACON OF HOPE IN THE AMERICAN THEATER. SHE SINGS. SHE DANCES. SHE ENTRANCES AUDIENCES WITH HER WARMTH AND CHARM AND BEAUTY. IT IS MY DREAM TO SEE HER PLAY MEDEA.
AFTER THE LUNTS IT'S SWIT--REMEMBER THAT ALWAYS!!!!!!!!
AND YOU CLAIM NOT TO KNOW HER. DO YOU LIVE UNDER A ROCK?
FIRST YOU POST THAT THREAD ABOUT WHY PEOPLE HATE YOU. NOW THIS!!!! YOU'VE JUST GIVEN ME AMPLE REASON TO HATE YOU!!!!!!!
YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO A MAN WHO HAS "A CONDITION"-- AND THE ONE THING MEDICAL SCIENCE HASN'T FOUND A CURE FOR IS "A CONDITION"

#9re: Shirley Jones replacement in 42nd St
Posted: 7/27/04 at 10:10pmThey don't know yet. My boyfriend works there and they have not named a replacement so it will probbably just be someone who has been there all along. Patrick Cassidy is staying though.

One can only pray regarding Beth's return. I know she's been asked. That's about it.
As for Shirley Jones, she may have added a few dollars to the production but not really. She's actually costing them more, if you stop to consider how much she's getting compared to the rest of the cast. Several, SEVERAL thousand a week according to the rumors I have heard. At this point, I think the show is lucky to be recouping it's investment.
As for the person who started this thread, yes do go and see it. It's a wonderful production no matter who is in the lead and the ensemble has to be the single hardest working group of kids you have ever seen, especially Nadine Isenegger. She's AMAZING!!
Treat yourself, you won't be dissapointed. :)

Posted: 7/28/04 at 3:04pmI'm sure they have to pay Shirley well - she has a lucrative concert career which would have had to be put on hold, and she had to relocate to do the show besides.

It doesn't matter WHERE a performer performs. Talent is talent and that's that.
I've played dinner theater and ignited the stage every time I stepped on it. The same is true for Loretta Swit.

Posted: 7/28/04 at 3:22pmfair enough. Anyway, there aren't enough Broadway stages to fit all the Broadway-worthy talent.

Posted: 7/28/04 at 9:06pmBeth Leavel was listed on my cast recording...but I can't find her name in the list of characters. Was she Christene Ebersole's standby?
