So sorry if this has been mentioned before. I was wondering if any of you had heard Shoshana's rendition of "Oh Bless the Lord My Soul" from the 2000 Off-broadway revival of Godspell. I heard it was amazing, that she shows her whistle tone range in it. I cannot believe she has that in addition to her crazy belting.

Yes, she is AMAZING in "Bless the Lord." All the more reason I wanna see her in Wicked.

A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it, but all she really dreams is to make someone else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer. And that is so beautiful-Anonymous

I heard she hits a high E, like in a Mariah Carey kind of way.

I just recently got that CD, but haven't gotten into it too much yet. However, Shoshana is amazing.

yeah its a pretty decent CD -- lots of people on it were completely unknown then and now pretty established on Broadway -- from a ten person cast you have: Barrett Foa, Shoshana Bean, Capathia Jenkins, AND Chad Kimball

Shoshana is completely awesome. Her version of that song blows my mind. I'm obsessed with that riff that goes "oooh yeah wa-ah-ah-ah-hoo-hoo". Haha, that looks stupid written out, but trust me, it's incredible. And so freaking hard.

Have any of you heard her sing legit? It is AMAZING. She has a gorgeous, gorgeous soprano.

I actually didn't want to see Wicked cause of her Bless the Lord. Not my fave version. I do prefer Lynn Thigpen's.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

This girl is CRAZY-ASS talented!!! That song LIVES in the cd player in my car. That whistle tone definitely turns into more of a church scream and it is HAWT!!! It is f-ing mind blowing. Whenever in need of some inspiration, refer to that song. It gets the blood pumping.

I've never heard her legit. Are there any wavs online?

Justice, see, I had just the opposite effect from the song... that alone has actual made me want to see Wicked and I'm SO not a fan (of the show, of course). To each their own, I suppose.

You can stream (listen, not download) the song through xsao.net (Go to Listening Booth, then Broadway, then Godspell - it's the recording on the right - OffBroadway).

The Off-Bway Godspell is a terrific recording. The cast is stellar (Barrett, Chad, Shoshana, Capathia, Leslie)and the new arrangements (for the most part) are wonderful. Run out and buy it!
