Sorry for another show help question, but I can't decide what my 5th show should be. My fiance has chosen Hamilton and Phantom of the Opera, so I told her I would take her to those. I have tickets to Dear Evan Hansen and Anastasia. I am interested in five shows for the last show: (1) Come From Away; (2) School of Rock; (3) Miss Saigon; (4) The Band's Visit; (5) Once on this Island. I have never seen any of these shows. School of Rock and Miss Saigon are the cheaper options, but SOR is coming to Houston (I could see it on tour). Always wanted to see Miss Saigon, but I have heard this isn't a good production. I like most of the music I have heard from Come From Away, but I am not sure I really want to see it on Broadway. I know nothing about The Band's Visit, but I know it has gotten raves. What is it about and is it really that good where it can't be missed? I like the Once on this Island cast album, but I don't really care for the story and I'd have to see it in previews and that worries me. What do you all think? You know more about these shows than me! Thanks!
Hard to recommend shows I saw versus ones I haven't/aren't even open yet, but I just saw Miss Saigon last week, and can't imagine why this wouldn't be considered a "good production"?!
I would say, if you ever want to see CFA, Broadway is probably the way to go. With the wrong cast/direction, this could totally go Corky St. Clair...
How often do you get to New York for theater? The Band's Visit will play for a while, I believe, so you may have another chance if you come back before the year is up (if the original cast is what you want to see).
I would suggest Come From Away. Jenn Colella is not to be missed. It may tour, but I doubt it will be anything like it is here.

Absolutely either Band's Visit of Come From Away! I agree with ChildofEarth; if you're going to be going to New York again maybe six or so months after this visit, there's a very high chance Band's Visit will still be playing.

Miss Saigon is the best production I've ever seen, but, I am biased because I've been in love with the score for 15 years or so. This production in particular is the best they've ever done.
However, if you're unsure, they filmed this same exact production professionally and released it on DVD / Blu-Ray in the UK. I know Amazon sells it. I have read some reviews on there that said it works with multiple region DVD players.
So, on the plus side, even if you don't go see Miss Saigon, the official DVD release of this production is always an option for you to check out.
Naturally, my vote is for Miss Saigon but also for The Band's Visit. I adore the movie and I saw it before it ever even became a musical. Plus, Tony Shalhoub from Monk is starring in it!
