It's a good comedy. It's not the best show I've seen so far this year (that goes to Three Days of Rain), but it was cute. The set is magnificent, the writing is sharp and witty, and the acting is phenominal. The cast, Debra Monk, Judy Greer, Lawrence Pressman, and Ty Burrell, make the most of the script and their good time shows. Monk and Greer MADE the show. I kept watching Pressman and thinking "wow, John Lithgow could do this part very well."

For those who don't know, the show concerns Marnie (Monk) and Jerry (Pressman), two down-on-their-luck Broadway actors who take a job playing the parents of Tom,(Burrell) who wants to impress his girlfriend, Natalie (Greer). Hilarity ensues and we find out that Natalie was also hired to play the part of the girlfriend. They slowly realize Tom is not as sane as it once seemed. After numerous twists and red herrings, everything is straightened out and Show People becomes an interesting commentary on the current state of the theater.

Just a funny story. I was walking up 45th street at around one-ish and saw the crowd waiting for Ms. Julia. They were waiting by the stage door she usually comes out at, by the Schoenfeld theater. I keep walking and see Bradley Cooper and Michelle Federer going in. I compliment them on the excellent show, and see, two seconds later, Julia and her bodyguard walk up the street by the Milford and enter the alley. I wish her a good show, she thanks me, and nobody else saw. It was great.
