Has anyone seen this movie yet? I work for a film & DVD company here in the UK, and i showed the trailer to my directors yesterday with the view to possibly buy the UK rights to the film.
I would love them to bring this film to the UK, but have a horrible feeling the film would be way too expensive to buy, and their concern was that they thought the film wouldnt recoup immediately. DAMN MY BOSSES!!!!!!
That's such an odd coincidence, I was just about to start a thread about this film, as I went to a screening of it tonight. It was very entertaining and surprisingly unbiased, although there was definitely a bit of a "little engine that could" push for Avenue Q. As for rights... I couldn't begin to tell you. The filmmaker, Dori Berinstein, was there and gave a little opening that was largely focused on how grateful they were to have found a distributor, as it was a long struggle to get ANYONE to give them a shot. I'm not sure if that would necessarily affect the price tag, but still, it's not DIScouraging.
Thanks for that Scott
I'm not surprised that they found it hard to get a distributor. My bosses are only interested in how much money they can make from it within the first couple of months. This film could appeal to so many people in the UK. I mean how many people have seen Wicked?
Although the best time to release it in the UK would be Christmas, but those slots have alredy gone, so it would have to be next easter at the earliest. Thats how far ahead we work.
Im glad you enjoyed it and i'll keep my progress posted here on the boards.
