For me, definitely 'Mary Poppins'. I've seen it several times and am planning on taking my niece to see it for her birthday, but I just don't want to listen to the cast recording. I swear I'm not just in it for the flashy tricks, but it's a show I feel definitely needs the acting and the visuals to make it up to the whole.

Posted: 3/28/07 at 4:12pmI completely disagree. I love the score to Mary Poppins, probably mostly due to the orchestrations, and I love the recording. I prefer the music to the spectacle.
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

Billy Elliot
Blood Brothers
Neither have stellar scores if you listen to them in isolation, but they work fine in the theatre...

Once Upon a Mattress
I had so much fun doing this show, but other than Normandy and Happily Ever After the rest of the score is pretty meh to me.
