Shrek Short Review 10/2/09

This was my 4th time seeing the show and not much has changed since I saw for the first time in March. Brian is still unbelievable and Sutton still gives the same performance but still gets me to laugh. Daniel Breaker was out last night and his understudy bobby Daye was on and he was amazing. He did many things that Daniel didn't do and it made me laugh.
And this is probably what many are waiting for. As many of you know, last night was the first time they performed "I'm A Believer". And it was AFTER curtain call. I have to say that I would go see it 100 more times just for that. I thought they did a great job with it. The whole cast comes back on stage and they use different mics than what they had used for the show, kind of what Spring Awakening did with most songs.

Overall, I had a great night and I hope to be back one more time before Brian leaves.

When you say Brian is 'unbelievable,' do you mean that in a good sense or a bad sense?

I personally loved Shrek when I saw it in Seattle, and I really hope it's still there when I make it to New York on reading break during the Olympics in February.

As much I liked Sutton Foster, I personally can't wait to see her replacement (if it makes it that long, that is).

The I'm A Believer post-curtain call thing sounds like it was executed well at least...oh, and I'm surprised it wasn't a sing-a-long to be honest. They could have brought down the Magic Mirror screen, and put the lyrics on the screen or something. That sounds like something Shrek the Musical would do.
