Was planning on seeing Shrek sometime in the next week.

Which should I do, TDF or Student Rush? I'm guessing student rush, although it's likely there's no difference. I can't justify getting to times square by 10am for lotto.

Student rush is very easy, but the seats could be bad (I'm sure you could move).

And TDF is a sure thing, but it's definitely rear mezz (again, you could move) and only for certain dates.

It was sold out of rush when I tried a week ago.

I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

I did TDF for Shrek this past Wed and ended up in the rear mezz, Row C. Very nice seats, actually. The front mezz isn't very big and the seats I sat in retail for $101.50, so it was a decent deal. No obstructions, great overall view of the stage. I had no complaints about the seat location.

What is the student rush?

Whatever's left, a la Gypsy?
Sides of orch, a la Spring Awakening/Chicago?

Varies by day?

Obviously TDF isn't available for all performances, and Studnet rush isn't guaranteed.

Thanks for the response.

I did student rush last Wednesday - it was $36.50 (!!!), but I got G 108, which was clearly a released house/premium seat, so I didn't mind all that much. I just wish I'd liked the show better...

Per TDF, "seating MAY be in the rear mezz" (emphasis mine). SO probably yes, but not definitely.
