--Movin Out--
Nashville, TN

CAST:

Brenda- Laurie Kanyok
Eddie- Rasta Thomas
Tony- Corbin Popp
James- Sean Maurice Kelly
Judy- Lynda Sing
Sgt. O'Leary/Drill Sgt.- Jason DePinto
Piano/Lead Vocals- Darren Holden

Overall, I thought the show was fantastic. Honestly, I can't think of a single thing I didn't like. I guess I'll just give it to you by cast memeber.

Laurie Kanyok: She was fantastic. There wasn't a single moment that she didn't shine on stage. I especially loved in in "She's Got A Way", very sexy. Just a quick question...How old is she? She looked fairly old in her headshot but on stage she looked great. Everything about her was awesome....she really stood out. I loved to see how she incorporated acting into the dancing, she had so much emotion, it was just really impressive. Everyone laughed hysterically when she went up to the piano and just went crazy, that whole song was great. She and Corbin Popp just looked like they were truly in love at the end, it was awesome.

Rasta Thomas- Really great. There were actually sometimes when I confused Chorus member Todd Burnsed for him. His kicks and turns were flawless. I especially liked him during "Pressure." He really stood out. The entire ending seemed like the moment that he shined the most.

Corbin Popp- His dancing is CRAZY. Crazy in a good way, he was so good. I can't imagine having the energy to do that night after night. I have to admit, it was kinda hard to get used to these muscled guys being all macho and then breaking out into ballet. Not knocking guys who do ballet at all, it was just kinda funny, especially on his turns. They were, however, completely amazing. It was funny to watch him at the end because he would look at Laurie and just start smiling really big, maybe a little crush going on there? If not, they do a really great job of it.

Sean Maurice Kelly- Didn't really seem to stand out but he was hilarious in the number when Tony and Eddie are fighting..that was great.

Lynda Sing- WOW. She didn't seem like an understudy at all, she was completely amazing. He acting was SO great as well as her dancing. She truly put all she had into that part and it was great to watch her. I wanted her to be on stage the whole time!

Darren Holden- HE WAS SO AWESOME! The crowd went CRAZY for him at curtain call. His singing was so amazing, there wasn't a single flaw. He seemed to really be having fun. I liked watching him when he'd watch the actors and become part of the scene. He was just really awesome. I kept thinking wow...what an awesome job. I went crazy when he started playing "Nashville State of Mind." NYSOM is one of my favorite songs ever (my ringtone as well) and it was a great way to end the night!

Movin' Out Band- Everything about them was great. I was surprised at the singing talent some of the brass players had, at first I thought they were just back-up singers but no! They did an awesome job. Just curious, what's the purpose of having that glass or plastic in front of the drummer and the brass instruments? Does it just mask the sound or something?

Kristine Bendul- Sexy Asian Stripper. Need I say more? Okay...sexy Asian stripper.

Overall, the entire show was great. I honestly didn't want it to end. The lighting was dead-on, the dancers didn't have a single flaw and the music was unbelievable. My favorite part was problem "River of Dreams/Keeping The Faith/Only the Good Die Young" or "I've Loved These Days." And then of course, the ending was great. The crowd at Tennessee Performing Arts Center was also really awesome, I could tell everyone loved the show.

If I could change one thing..it would be that I was going back to see it. If anyone is thinking about seeing this show, DO IT! It isn't one you want to miss out on!

Hey ShuQ, I'm glad you liked the show. I saw it on Opening Night this tuesday and it was absolutely FANTASTIC! You had a dead on review of the show. I'd goes as far to say its the best of the season for TPAC so far. I'm so excited because I get to work it this Saturday and Sunday too!

Kristine Brendul is extremely talented and very sweet. She was so supportive when I talked to her and stuff. Holly Cruikshank is wonderful, also.

Hey ShuQ,
Glad you had a great time and that you liked Laurie.
I saw the show in Boston actually one year ago today with Holy Cruikshank and it was amazing. Darren Holden is the man:).
Just got my tickets for when it comes to Providence in May and I'm hoping Holly is performing that night but sounds like Laurie is just as good.
Thanks for the review.
BTW. I agree with you on the show highlight I really like the arrangemnets they did with Billy's songs. Updated On: 3/19/05 at 07:27 AM

I am so fortunate I got to see Holly, Corbin (Ron was out) and the A cast WITH Michael Cavenaugh. I had a wonderful time!
