The Wintergarden is already the "Cadillac Wintergarden Theatre" and surprise, surprise, that's also a Shubert house.

"I really don't care for the names. They don't flow like saying "yeah im going to the Royale theatre and the plymouth theatre."

I know, I agree.

And then you have people like me who ONLY say things like "I'm going to the Shubert, I'm going to the Cort, I'm going to the Ambassador"

I'm weird lol

I too say "I'm going to the Golden" or if someone asks me where a show is playing I'll say "It's at the Imperial" as if they're stupid if they don't know where that is.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Here's an article on the renaming from the Times. Apparently, the news has gotten a very mixed reaction in Broadway circles:

If I recall correctly, years ago they wanted to change the 46th Street Theatre to The (Ethel) Merman Theatre but she balked at the idea because of the theatre's then tenant "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". It was later named the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
