I just finished listening to Side Show while I was reading the libretto. I am really sorry I missed this show. It sounds like it was really good, even though it was a flop. Did anyone here have the chance to catch it back in 97? What are your thoughts on it? I might have to go see this one at Lincoln Center.

I saw it very shortly after it opened (before Skinner started having vocal problems) and despite all the flaws, I had a great time at the theatre. It was a cast of unique individuals, all extremely interesting actors, who had created their own unique stories. Watching any one of them for an entire performance would have been fascinating, so watching all of them interact with that blast of a score was truly exciting. It was a show whose sum worked better than many of its parts.
I know, I didn't get to see it either but I wish I had....the song tunnel of love seems like it could have some FANTASTIC staging!
