Agreed that Leslie Kritzer and Laura Benanti could not work if only because of the height difference. Physicality must be taken into account when casting. Not that they have to look exactly alike, but height and body type need to be similar or else the twins will look very unbalanced.
As for the loss of "Tunnel of Love," I must admit that it saddens me, as I have seen several regional productions that have made it work quite well. Back when I was the ASM on the Ohio premiere in '99 Bill Russell came to see the show and afterwards told us how much more exciting and hot our "Tunnel of Love" was compared to the Broadway production.
And I can't see "She's Gone" going back into the show, at least not where it was originally. Since hearing it on the "Unsuspecting Hearts" CD and knowing where it was based on the Playbill I have from previews I just can't imagine Violet needing an extended solo so close to the big eleven o'clock number.
do you think they could get norm lewis to come back and reprise his role?
