How are seats on the side in Spelling Bee?

I know it's a theatre in the round type setting, but do the actors mostly play to the center?

side seats are fine. It also means they'll throw candy and chips at you :)

They play to all sides. I did sro and it was on a side and it was a great view.

i did sro two times this summer and then i randomly won the lottery. the standing room seats were great, and i loved it but after seeing it closer and from the front it would be hard to see it any other way. they do play a litle to the center, so if you have a chance for center take it. just my opinion.

Side seats are the best in my opinion as the whole theatre is a stage for this show and if you are in the center section, you will have to look backwards to see some stuff but I won't tell you what as I don't want to spoil it.

with ticket sales being rumoured to be slow for the next couple weeks, does anyone think i will have a problem getting standing room for Spelling Bee on the 10th for a mattinee?

I am going to NY in November and really want to see the show, but if I can get SRO (which everyone raves over) without having to get up at the butt crack of dawn, I'd prefer that.

Although, last I checked I could get left orchestra first row for full price.

So, the bottom line is - is a seat in the front row and not getting up at an ungodly hour to get standing room seats worth $125 more. re: Side seats at Spelling Bee

There is a lottery, but since the theatre is adjacent to the Gershwin you get a lot of the Wicked people putting their name in the hat. It's apparently a pretty hard lotto to win.

SRO is really the best cheap ticket route.

Patronous i dont think you need to get up at the crack of dawn for spelling bee SRO. I've heard that many people that don't win the lottery just get SRO because some are still available!

Yeah, although it'll be the week of Thanksgiving that I am there. That worries me a bit.

I'd hate to miss it, ya know?

I'd have no problem getting up at 6:00 am to stand in line for SRO tickets. I've done that many a time.

However, since I now live in Los Angeles, that's like 3:00 am to me.

YIKES!!!

Every seat has a great view of the stage.

You don't have to wait in line for Spelling Bee SRO tickets. Just get there at 10 when the box office opens, get your tickets, then go back to the hotel and sleep till the show.

I've sat in every section and my experience has been great appreciation for the staging. I think James Lapine has done a briiliant job .

it's funny everybody talks about the spillover crowd from wicked, and i did the bee lotto twice, both after unsuccesful wicked attempts the first time it was jam packed with wicked leftovers and the second time with huge wicked lotto lines very few people stayed for bee. so it's a toss. but like you said thanksgiving.

i'd agree with luckydave if you get there a little before the box office opens you should be able to get sro tickets. good luck.
