Really, this boils down to seeing the trees or the forest. You nitpick individual songs, individual lines, etc to no end. That happens with every show as they undergo changes in previews and tryouts. Someone will always miss THAT song, THAT line.
Structurally, the new Side Show is less "grand", but I found it to be far stronger as a dramatic piece.
