Silly question from a tourist

So, I'm a theater lover from fly-over country that gets to NYC maybe once every other year. I've got a trip upcoming in March and have a question that I can't find answers for by searching this board or anywhere else on the internets.

I'm dying to see Alan Cumming in Cabaret. I have tickets for the final show on 3/29 because I thought it would be cool to say I was there for the last show... but now I'm wondering if that was a mistake. Should one expect the final show to be a markedly different experience?

Sometimes after a last show, creatives may come out and make a speech or something, but there isn't anything markedly different in terms of the quality of the show. The audience might be a little more enthusiastic. Overall, I wouldn't say that the last show of "Cabaret" will be markedly different than any other performance, but because it's Alan Cumming, and because it's "Cabaret," it will be a great experience. Keep your tickets, and enjoy your trip!

I find that final performances of shows are somewhat filled with die-hard fans who will be very vocal from the first motes of every song to the last notes of every song. If you know the show well, it doesn't matter. But if you want to hear every word and note, you probably won't. But those performances are usually very memorable - just very vocal also.

First here's hpong you enjoy your trip in March to NYC! As somebody previously posted you will experience many die hard fans in the audience. That being said, I have been at more Broadway closing performances than openings, and find them to be exilirating experiences. Who knows, you may have one of the Kit Kat dancers invite you to the closing after party! Keep us posted.
