Brantley's is up.

'“Sleep No More” is, in short, a voyeur’s delight, with all the creepy, shameful pleasures that entails.'

amNY is four stars:

"Plainly put, you've never experienced anything quite like "Sleep No More," an immense, nonlinear and sensory-based theatrical experience. It combines narrative elements of "Macbeth" with aspects of Hitchcockian noir, modern dance, masquerade and a haunted house."

AP is positive:

"What the creative team has done is create an utterly unique mash-up of dance, performance art and nonlinear storytelling that is unique to each theater-goer, depending on where they've been and what they saw. Plus, it's even got a working nightclub that serves a mean gimlet."

No desire to take over anyone else's thread. There is generally a thread for reviews so this is just a service.

Theatremania is very positive.

"As for the performances -- which are offered in silence and have been choreographed by Maxine Doyle -- they range from recreating such infamous moments from Macbeth as the banquet scene in which Macbeth imagines that the ghost of Banquo appears at the table to devised ones, tangentially related to the play. In this latter category is one particularly riveting scene involving one of the younger men intensely developing photos of an older man with multiple stab wounds, clearly an investigation of the murder of King Duncan.

Such moments -- some more opaque than others -- thrillingly abound. And given that it's impossible to see everything in one two-hour session, chances are theatergoers will find themselves wanting to return to the McKittrick time and again to dive into this deliciously eerie experience."

Vincentelli likes it.

"Along with "The Book of Mormon" and "War Horse" (reviewed in tomorrow's paper), "Sleep No More" is one of this spring's must-see events. Word of mouth ensured that the show was close to sold out before the reviews even came out, and since they've been positive -- including my own rave -- tickets have now become even hotter commodities."

NY Daily News gives it four stars.

"Ambition is the fatal flaw in "Macbeth," but it's the key to the success of "Sleep No More," a sensational interactive theater piece inspired by imagery from the Scottish play and Alfred Hitchcock thrillers."

Alexandra MacAaron offers up an interesting review with lots of pics:

"There has been some conjecture in the blogosphere that Sleep No More is not really theater. I disagree. Yes, the lines between actor and audience are blurred. And no, there is not a narrative beginning, middle and end, per se. But the experience is fantastically theatrical. In fact, I would argue that Sleep No More is a theater of the senses. For a participant, all five of those senses are fully engaged."

Terra Vetter of Theatre is Easy website gives it a rave:

"Sleep No More is full of surprise revelation and poignant moments; what makes it unique for a theatrical piece is both the ability for these moments to come, even when actors are nowhere to be seen, and the intense level of absorption that occurs during the experience. Wandering through Sleep No More took me further away from my own life than any experience I’ve ever had, in or out of a theater.

The fact that it’s not a traditional theater piece should not deter those afraid of the quirky arts. Sleep No More is a wonderful evening for anyone with the physical ability to handle the stairs and hours of walking, and those with an intrepid sense of curiosity will find it absolutely blissful."
