Going to be seeing this at the Lajolla Playhouse..
Not familiar with it. Has anyone see it? or heard any buzz around it?
I saw it in Princeton - I think it's almost all the same cast? It was cute. I thought Bryce Ryness was brilliant.
Isherwood reviewed it; I don't disagree with most of his notes, especially re: the second act, but who knows what/how much reworking they've done of it for La Jolla...
A Fairy Tale, Updated Without Ambien
If they've done some work on it, and keep the lovely Bryce on board, I would consider seeing it again, to see if/how it's improved.

I found it to be vital, fresh, fast moving and a show that kept me thinking long past. It was by no means a masterpiece, but I thoroughly enjoyed the rock score and thought it clever and topical. It was a gem that was an extremely pleasant surprise. I recommended it to pals who also had a wonderful time as well. I'd love a cast recording.
I saw it in Los Angeles a few years ago with BWW's own poster Erika Amato! She was fantastic (got an L.A. Ovation award nomination for it), and the show was very good, but a bit uneven. An interesting concept with various degrees of success.
The cast includes Erika Amato, Deanne Bray, Clinton Derricks-Carroll, Kevin Earley, Shannon Ford, Russell Harvard, Troy Kotsur, Christia Mantzke and Alexandria Wailes with creators Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda also taking part.

Saw it in Princeton and was captivated and charmed. I thought the concept and performances were clever, smart and fresh. I don't think this show would fare too well on Broadway, but I would very much like to see it be given an open-ended run Off-Broadway, perhaps at New World Stages or a similar venue. I certainly hope it has a future life.
Looking forward to seeing it later in the run on July 30th :)
I didn't see it in Princeton (despite living 20 minutes away - just couldn't get the time) but saw a concert version of the show last year with Groovelily. I did hear some of the changes they've made, and I didn't like them nearly as much as the original. The recording Groovelily made of it was fantastic -- I was sad to hear some of my favorite stuff is gone...
