I just rewatched my Tivo-ed version of this great film from TCM last night and fellin love with it all over again. Micahel Caine and Sir Laurence Olivier were captivating and so wonderful.
The thing that struck me was the TCM intro, it was annouced that Michael Caine and Jude Law were re-making "Sleuth" for a fall 2007 release. I groaned a little until Harold Pinter was penning the new screenplay.
Now that is a fall movie I cannot wait for (Oct 12, 2007)!!!

I love this play, and the movie adapatation was very well done.
I have to say that, for me anyway, it's more fun to watch it live, because if it's done well, you really don't know it's just the two of them.
I'll be very interested in the new version.
I wouldn't mind seeing a crackling good stage revival, either!
FYI: The original working title of the play was "Who's Afraid of Stephen Sondheim?"

Yup! He's old friends with the Schaffer bros. It was to be a tribute to Steve's legendary game nights and his "used-to-be" creepy NYC townhouse... (I say "used-to-be" because it has since been remodeled after a nasty fire a number of years back!)
