Was the Slipper and the Rose ever done on Broadway? It's the Cinderella story.

I always loved the movie and the score. Simplistic but beautiful

No.. it was never a stage show - just the movie.

And I agree.. a great score. For those not familiar with it, it's the cinderella story, but told from the point of view of the prince (Richard Chamberlain). Gemma Craven is wonderful in it as well. Songs are by the Sherman Brothers.

It's available on DVD, VHS and there's a CD as well...

I forgot to add in my original post, I always thought it would make a great stage production. Very lavish and very fun. And Gawd forbid great way to intorduce kids to the theatre

I always did like this movie. It really does have a great score. It is played frequently in my house, for my mother just loves Richard Chamberlain...lol. I think it would make a great stage production too.

One of my fave numbers is when the Prince and his pal/servant are dancing in the crypt singing about how "there's a pre-arranged spot in the family plot where my royal bones will go. Yes, I'll be slipped into the beautiful family crypt..."
Funny and what dancing.

It should be staged on Broadway!

Also one of my all time favorite movies. I saw it for the first time in Radio City Music Hall, and have loved it ever since. I have actually been to the location used for the Prince's castle -- it's in Austria about 30 miles south of Salzburg -- a lovely area. I agree the scene and song in the crypt is a funny scene. I also liked the Fairy Godmother -- not quite how you would expect a Fairy Godmother to act -- Annette Crosbie was very good.

Since the Sherman Brothers seem to be on a role with some of their films being turned into musical stage productions -- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Mary Poppins -- why not add this to the mix? I think it would be interesting. Updated On: 3/30/04 at 01:14 AM

This show would be great on Broadway.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Of course, I would cast Patrick Wilson as the Prince... (come back, Patrick, come back!)

That's exactly what Broadway needs, another movie-to-stage transformation!

Does anyone ever think of ORIGINAL musicals anymore?

Sad. Terribly sad.
