Small Show to Direct

Posted: 11/13/06 at 12:22amHey guys, I am need of a smallish show to direct, with around 15-20 people in the cast. Preferably one that doesn't need a hugely complicated set. I've got a couple ideas floating around in my head but I was wondering if you had any good thoughts, or maybe some obscure stuff that is awesome but that no one knows about. Thanks!

Sorry there is no small show with a cast that big.

It's only a four-person show, but "Veronica's Room" is brilliant.
"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is essentially a one-set show with a cast of about twenty.

Yeah, stuff like Bat Boy I guess is along the right lines. It's tough because the group I'm involved with doesn't want me to do a show like Fantasticks or YAGMCB because there aren't quite enough people...
Good suggestions. Other ones I was thinking were Honk! or Working...can anyone think of anything else?

Lucky Stiff is written for 15.
Someone else mentioned Once On This Island which is written for 11 but works nicely with 15 also.
I guess you could do Godspell with any number of people.
Dames At Sea is also hilarious and can be done with 6 people or 60 people (but it's a tap show, although you can work it so only the girls tap).
There's a production of Pippin opening in Sydney next year with only 14 actors (can't quite remember the actual figure, but something like that).
Also, Into The Woods is usually done with only 17 actors, and if you remove all the doubling there are 21 roles (23 if you count Sleeping Beauty and Snow White).

I only know a couple of songs from it, but it seems like it would be fun. They just did Pippin last year I think, so that's out. Godspell is another good one. Thanks.
