Actually, I didn't mean for this title to play in on my thread...just kinda happened that way....

Anyhow, I was wondering if I could get some help from the Bernadette fans...

My roomate works in a 4 star resturant in uptown Charlotte. He said that he was talking to this guy and his wife (my roomate waited their table), and that they got to talking about performers and concerts that come to Charlotte and my roomate mentioned Bernadette Peters. ...Now, I can only ride the fence on this one until I hear otherwise. But this guy (no name given) claims that he dated Peters when she was in LA.

I was wondering if anyone might know some of her past (obviously, unfamous) boyfriends?

And you think this is an appropriate thread, why?

Kinda creepy that you want that...I mean sure you want to know the guy but we need to respect her.

I think NYC is just curious that's all.

But I suppose we should respect her privacy too

It's true...it's total curiousity...

Just look where I'm coming from. I think if I were just at home or something and randomly wanted to know about her past relationships, then that is TOTALLY something different. But it's the fact that my roomate knows how much that I talk about Bernadette (I'm trying to convert him to the curly red head side)...and waiting on a guy who SAYS he dated her, just made me curious...

Bernadette has, over the years, kept her romantic relationships VERY private. (Except for the obvious: Steve Martin and her sadly deceased husband Michael.)

There's probably a moral or a lesson in that fact.

Other than Steve Martin and of course her late husband, the only other romantic relationships she had "made public" are Treat Williams and David Bouley (famous chef in NYC) but over the years I've seen pictures of her (some from her LA days) when she is seen with various men that you could or could not assume she is dating at the time of the photograph. So I suppose anything is possible but because she has always remained private about her personal life, that's pretty much all the info you are going to find.

Bernadette and Treat Williams? When did she talk about having a relationship with him? Someone told me a story about when they saw Into the Woods and sat in the side box, this guy said he was Bernadette's boyfriend and asked them to give her a note when she came up there. I don't remember if they did or not.

What exactly are you looking for? Juicy details of her past, or just confirmation that she dated this guy? Either way, imagine if it was YOUR past being pried into on a public message board without your knowledge or consent. Would you be happy or comfortable about it? (Maybe you would, I don't know.)

I have not doubt that Ms. Peters has had MANY dates and romances in her life. She is a beautiful, charming woman, and guys would want to ask her out.

...But looking for a list, confirmation of a name, or any juicy details is kinda unsettling... and also unnecessary.

If he's not "famous," what possible interest could there be? You have no idea who this person is nor anything about him. I can't even imagine what would be interesting about that.

I was just giving a list of what is publicly known and therefore appropriate to discuss on a public message board. While I don't recall an actual interview or anything where she discussed Treat Williams, I think its just pretty well known and I'm sure either her or his publicist would have confirmed it at the time but it was the mid 80s so I really don't know. I don't think she has ever really "discussed" dating David Bouley either but its pretty well known that she did. It's sometimes mentioned in articles on him.

Two pictures from the ceremony where she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Easily found on ebay:
