According to a Playbill.com article:

"Mark Hollmann, the composer and co-lyricist of Urinetown, and Robert Harling, the author of Steel Magnolias, are collaborating on a musical based on the film comedy "Soapdish," Variety reported."

I think it's an uber-fantastic idea. I always thought that HAIRSPRAY and SOAPDISH were sister movies. Considering how great HAIRSPRAY is as a musical, SOAPDISH will also be a riot!

I loved that movie and it certainly does lend itself to being a musical. It would be a scream!

OMG, it would make an amazing musical. I used to love the movie when I was younger.

It says they need a big musical comedy star for the lead...Ellen Greene!!!!!!
