I just completed a search of Sondheim on Amazon.com. There is this CD of Sondheim called SIMPLY SONHEIM a 75th Birtday Salute. Has anyone on here bought it, heard it, or even maybe seen the show. It was done in Sam Francisco. Seems ok, heard some samples...is it worth geeting?
Oh, and I am new to the board...really like what you all have to say on here...

The new CD from the Kritzerland label, Simply Sondheim is to be launched with a party at The Colony Theatre ( 555 North Third Street )in Burbank, California, on October 23rd at 7:00 pm.
The 2 CD set, recorded live in San Francisco, is the only complete concert recording of one of four major world-wide 2005 tributes celebrating Stephen Sondheim's 75th birthday.
One of the singers on the CD, Kelly Ground, will sing at the event. Other artistes featured on the CD include Lisa Vroman, Judy Butterfield and Amy Dondy.
The concert took place on December 5th 2005 and featured some lesser-known and unpublished Sondheim pieces including "I'm in Love with a Boy", written when Sondheim was 16 and "Farewell", cut from the Forum score.
The concert was staged by Tom Segal and Tom Orr; Daniel Lockert was MD, musical supervisor, conductor and pianist; other musicians were Daniel Fabricant on bass and Randy Odell on drums and percussion. The producer of both the concert and the CD was James Brewer (A-J Productions).
Stephen Sondheim generously consulted with the producers in the development of the concert as well as the production of the recording.
All the profits from the sale of the CD are to be donated to The Mary Mason Memorial Lemonade Fund which is administered by Theatre Bay Area.
Society member have the chance to buy their copy of this recording through the Society as we have organised a bulk purchase.
