After some consideration I decided to use the platform I had to write my own tribute to sometime in honor of his birthday.
After some consideration, I decided to use the platform I have to write my own tribute to Sondheim in honor of his birthday, analyzing his singular place in our culture and what it means from a gay perspective - or at least one gay man’s perspective.
My editor actually wanted to add a sentence in about when Sondheim came out, to make it “relevant” to our readership. I have no words for that. You either laugh or you cry.
I tried to find an appropriate thread to stick this in - perhaps one just with Sondheim tributes - but couldn’t. I know people get touchy about that kind of thing.
