I have taken everyone's advice, and decided not to sing the song The Wizard and I, from Wicked for my audition. The audition is not for a part in a play, the audition is just to get into this company...I do have a wider range then many, but it has it's limitations...I would also like to be original (one of the reasons I chose not to sing The Wizard and I)...Can you think of any? I'm 12...range is...Low g, to high B, if that's what you mean. Updated On: 9/3/04 at 05:14 PM

original. hmmm
12? range... hmmm

well if u want upbeat i'd say go for something like...
my new philosophy
it may be a duet at points.. but if u edit the music sheets, i'm sure you can figure it out.
its a cute song, its pretty easy though. but original i would think.

for something more....inimate or emotional? i would say "sympathy" from jekyll and hide. thats a great number.

also! "hold on" from secret garden is GREAT choice. i say definatly go for that. its a great melodie and a bit challenging.

DEFYING GRAVITY!

BSoBW2: I punched Sondheim in the face after I saw Wicked and said, "Why couldn't you write like that!?"

Look at a book called "The 16 bar theatre audition" if you want to just look it up, the songs in it are all over the internet, they are great audition songs :)

Also - "What did I have I don't have now" could be a fantastic song if you like it :)

When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere
