Songs for a New World

Okay, you all were so right about Songs for a New World. It was so ****ing amazing. I saw it in a community theatre and it was still better than Broadway's Sweeney Todd. It's such an astonishingly moving show with great music and lyrics. I loved it. If you haven't seen it you have to. It's great.

I saw a pretty amazing production a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful show, and when done right, can be so touching, and just... amazing.
that's a really big mic...

Maybe it's better live, cause I wasn't moved at all by the CD. I dunno why, but I just lost interest, not sure If I've even made it through the whole CD.

It needs a bold concept and a director willing to take risks. If it gets those, it is exhilarating.
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

I have never seen this show, but I own a recording. Some of the songs are amazingly moving; some of my absolute favorites (Christmas Lullaby being worth noting) but others left me bored. I would really like to see it, because I think it would really change my perception of it. On the whole I really enjoy this show. Plus it's the show that originally got me interested in Jason Robert Brown, so I'm happy.

I LOVE JASON ROBERT BROWN!
When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere

Well, I saw it at Schenectady Light Opera Company in Schenectady, NY. I don't know if there is any professional showings going on right now, but if you go to Music Theater International's website you should be able to find out if it's playing in a theater near you. It's definitly worth it. And to Jazzy, I just saw the new Broadway production of Sweeney Todd a week before I saw the commuinty theatre version of Songs, and I still liked Songs better. Don't get me wrong Sweeney was a great show but at points it's just too much.

I'm seeing him Mooooonday.

If any out of towners are coming to the JRB/Lauren Kennedy concert in Boston, you should go to dinner at Fire and Ice first, it's right across the street, and oh so good!
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH! 8/21/05
