Posted: 12/30/09 at 11:42am

With renovations already well underway to restore the Sony Centre to its original 1960 glory, CEO Dan Brambilla will announce an impressive lineup of shows to mark the anniversary, with the showplace lit up an astounding 200 nights during its first nine months (from Oct. 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011) following a glittery reopening precisely 50 years after the world premiere of Camelot.

Two works by Robert Lepage will debut in Toronto this fall. One will be during the Sony Centre 2010/11 season:

"On Nov. 18 and 19 the Sony Centre will host Eonnagata, which blends dance and theatre to tell the tale of Charles de Beaumont, Chevalier d'Éon, the 18th-century cross-dressing spy, writer and diplomat."

I thought they were going to be significantly reducing the number of seats at the Sony Centre as part of the renovation. Like, I thought it was going to go down from 3,155 to about 2-2,400 seats? But on the website it says "the Sony Centre offers a 3,000 seat proscenium theatre..." Sounds like it's pretty much the same.
