Okay, I have to admit my ignorance - I have only seen the film version of "Sound of Music" - never seen it onstage.
But I downloaded the CD from iTunes last night (the 2006 London revival) and really enjoyed it. My FAVORITE track on the CD is the reprise of "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" (a bell's not a bell till you ring it).
How many of these songs are original to the show? Were there any interpolations?
I guess this okay for a show that picked it's star on a national TV show - probably better than the mess that "Grease" will be here. But Scarlet shouldn't have turned this down, she would have been swell.
Think they will ever make a more complete film? Or is that sacrilege?

nothing's really sacrilege.
they had the audacity a couple of years ago to re-make the music man, so anything goes.
but movies like som and west side story are considered damn near close to perfect so i don't see remakes of either of those films being done at all.
now, as far as those extra lyrics in the sixteen going on seventeen (reprise) they can also be heard on the movie's 30th and 40th anniversary edition soundtracks. the song was recorded in it's entirety in-studio but an abridged version was used for the final cut of the movie.
i'm not sure if they filmed the sequence with the complete version or just filmed it as it is seen in the film now. i'm sure deleted scenes would have surfaced on one of the countless re-issues of the film.
