South P. definitely stole the show. I'd never seen Osnes (I've only seen O'Hara) perform before and was very impressed. But "Dame" was the highlight of the afternoon.
Additionally - Danyelle Williamson was lights out singing "Colored Woman."

Posted: 7/16/10 at 7:59amI totally agree. Yesterday's Bryant Park performance was one of the best despite the problem with the lawn being closed for the dry runs. "There Is Nothing Like a Dame" was excellent and unlike most other shows performing using understudies, "South Pacific" used the real stars. Kristin Chenowith and Sean Hayes, for example, were replaced by understudies last week. Andrew Samonsky was great singing "Younger Than Springtime" despite the sunglasses. Laura Osnes did a nice version of "A Wonderful Guy" and Loretta Sayre was good doing "Bali Hai" although her voice seemed hoarse. The number "Shine" from "Billy Elliot" was great as were the performers from "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Memphis". The Rockettes were great too and a nice addition. We had a great time.
