Today I have seen again in a tape the performance of the BLAME CANADA song with Robin Williams at the Academy Awards. I'm the only person that thinks that SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT would be a great Broadway musical?

Well, Sondheim himself apparently said that he thought that it was one of the best original musicals he'd seen in ages (I'm sure Mr. Shaiman can give us the exact quote).
It's a great and hilarious movie, but I do wonder whether it could ever be as effective or funny on stage with live actors playing Cartman, Saddam etc..... There are things you can do in animation that I'm not sure come across quite as well with real people. But, it's certainly worth a try though.
I absolutely love the South Park movie as a movie musical. I've often commented that the songs would be great fun to perform, but realistically I just don't see it working too well with real people onstage. The Disney musicals work OK because they can rely on amazingly lavish design and puppetry to simulate the high-quality animation. A lot of South Park's charm is its shoddy animation, and it would be very difficult to make a stage reproduction attractive and still true to the cartoon.

Here's an interesting question for Mr. Shaiman. Were there any songs from South Park the movie that were cut out? it would be great to hear why they didnt make it into the film (if there were any in the first place). South park is one of my favorites.
