Not sure if the last performance was tonight, or tomorrow.

There is talk that it might be reproduced soon in NYC.

re: Souvenir still closing today?

I find it a sad state that this show gets so little discussion on this board - every time one of us starts a thread about it, it dies quickly. It's one of the best things I've seen in a theater. Are people not interested because it's off-Broadway? Because Florence Foster Jenkins isn't being portrayed by Idina, Shoshana, nor Eden? This board depresses me sometimes.

re: Souvenir still closing today?

Try a search on Florence Foster Jenkins - she was a socialite here in NYC many years ago, who fancied herself a talented classical singer. However, she wasn't very good. She used to put on concerts at the hotel where she lived for her society friends. For some reason, those were popular and she eventually started doing them as benefits annually. After about 16 years of this, she put on a show at Carnegie Hall which sold out immediately. You can buy CD's of her. There are only two people onstage - Florence, played BRILLIANTLY by Judy Kaye, and her accompanist, played by Jack Lee. It does end its run at the York today, but as was pointed out earlier, they are looking to move it to a small Broadway house.

re: Souvenir still closing today?

It sounds wonderful. It is unfortunate that shows like this don't get the discusiion or publicity they deserve. Not living in NY I can only go by what I read or what people talk about on these boards. Thanks for making me aware of it.

re: Souvenir still closing today?

I had no idea there was a show about Florence! Someone at my school discovered her CD about three years ago and she was a hit! She does the best rendering of the Queen of the Night's aria ever!... I'm just kidding, haha.

I just didn't know a lot of people knew about her.
