everyone should buy tickets to see Souvenir. it is the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the soprano who was a little less than wonderful. however, she devoted her life to her music and gave all of the money she received to charity, and because of her good deeds, everyone attended her shows and lavished her with attention. she and her accompanist formed quite an unbreakable bond and the show centers around that as well.
one of my professors, Meg Bussert, is in the show. she understudies the part of Florence, and she has quite the resume. she was in the revival of Camelot opposite Richard Harris as well as Brigadoom opposite Dick van Dyke. she received a Tony Award nomination for her role in Brigadoon...and you can hear her on both recordings. she is an amazing teacher and understands what it is to be a struggling artist.
go see her and this amazing show!
