I'm seeing Spelling Bee in Minneapolis this week... (yes I know, yay!), and I'm wondering how the whole audience participation thing works. I'm sitting in a box seat also, would that wreck my chances of being picked?
I know of course it wouldn't work for the prayer of the comfort councelor, but I'm just wondering. :]
I can't answer your question, but now I'm wondering how do they do it on tour. Do they only only pick people from the orchestra? It would take awhile for someone in the balcony to come on stage...

When I went to see it in NYC there were people "surveying" us in the lobby before the show. My guess is they pick a few names from the list of people they've surveyed.

Thank you!
I guess I'm just curious about the balcony thing now, because I think it'd be an awesome experience, but I'm worried about it.
When they called for volunteers here (Melbourne) they specified that only those who were seated in the stalls (orch) were allowed to sign up.

When they were in Hartford, CT., they had a booth set up in the lobby (orch. section) where they did all the 'auditions'. They told everyone to come back to the booth at 7:15 (for the 7:30 start) where they would announce the 'winners'.
