I heard from a friend that the lotto has really calmed down. Any truth to this statement or did she just go on a slow night?

Depends when you go. If you go to the Sunday eve, its empty because Wicked has no show (lottery).

Spelling Bee's sales have gone down a lot. They added a Student Rush on top of everything else. But it really depends on when you go see Bee. When I went lotto-ing a few weeks ago, not too many people from Wicked came by so it was pretty mellow and I ended up winning.

is it just the 7pm shows or sundays in general? how does the reg student rush work?

Francis- It's pretty much any day. Student rush seats are $25 and you can get them at the box office if you don't win lotto. They haven't been selling SRO because they haven't been selling out.
