That spells bad news for All Shook Up, Little Women and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (not to mention Brooklyn and Good Vibrations) for that fourth Best Musical slot for the Tony Awards.

I think the three locks are Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Spamalot and Light in the Piazza, with 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee taking the fourth slot. (How will they ever fit that title on that little Circle in the Square marquee?)

Yes, but now the announcement has been officially made, with the preview and opening night dates attached, so there is new news.

Spelling Bee, Spamalot, DRS and Piazza, eh? Haven't seen Bee or Piazza yet, but sounds like that actually makes for a relatively competitive Tony year.

yeah! it's so exciting! The problem is that (I haven't seen Spamalot yet but speaking for the others) they all deserve the Tony! Spelling Bee is my favorite show in New York right now, but Dirty Rotten also really deserves it, and Piazza is SO touching, such haunting music-perhaps best score? See, but Spelling Bee and DRS have such great scores too! AHH!

This is exciting news. I have tickets for the final week at second stage and am anxiously awaiting this show. The TONY awards, as far as new musical and revival of a play. sould be pretty exciting.
