Not surprising.

While a different post here mentioned another "misquoted" review, this guy has little to complain about. Let's be honest. He DID say it was thrilling and he did say it was spectacular, and in both cases he meant those words in exactly the way they were used in the headlines. He may have also said it was dull at the same time, but the way they quoted his words to show exactly how they were meant is a lot different than saying "spectacular" if he had said something like "it is filled with spectacularly bad acting" -- that would be using his words in a way different from how they were meant. He shouldn't have said the show is both thrilling and spectacular if he didn't mean it!

The only thing more outrageous would be finding out Michael Musto accepts free drinks in exchange for mentions in his column.

This is common practice. It's like the movie promo people who quoted Siskel & Ebert as saying "It was better than Ferris Bueller!" but they HATED FB. No big.
Yeah, I don't see what the big deal is. Shows do this all the time; why are people suddenly singling out Spider-Man?
He needs to check out Brantley's review. It's like a master class on how to write a review that doesn't allow a single decent pull quote.

If, as he says, they have added the "and" then they should be run out of town on a rail - the only way they could do what they do and not seem like complete jerks is to do: "Spectacular... thrilling..."

So Musto is bitching because of his own incompetence? He isn't new to the Broadway game. He knows how shows operate with bad reviews. Suck it up, bitch!
