Spielberg interested in remaking Mary Poppins for big screen

Posted: 12/29/05 at 11:46pmI'd be more interested in seeing a Tim Burton remake. :P
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

And Starbucks will use the words 'large' and 'small', not pretentious crap like grande and tall.

Exactly. Wouldn't that be more exciting?
Not that I don't think Spielberg's would be interesting.

Spielberg remake might just be a big rumor#28

spielbergfilms.com states that Spielberg has no intention of remaking the film Mary Poppins in its top article on its home page, quoting Marvin Levy, Spielberg's PR rep. Definitely worth a read and some consideration: http://spielbergfilms.com/
Note, however, that the spielberg.com article continues to spread the urban legend that Walt Disney's body was cryogenically preserved awaiting advances in medical science to be unfrozen and cured, when it makes the comment, "In a flight of fancy that would have Uncle Walt spinning in his cryogenic chamber..." Read all about this urban legend at: http://www.snopes2.com/disney/waltdisn/frozen.htm
Steven Awalt, editor of SpielbergFilms.com, replied to my e-mail about "Uncle Walt" saying, "The Disney cryogenic chamber bit was actually a joke at the expense of the urban myth...sorry for the confusion."

Out of curiosity, why is it that most people love seeing a new take on a musical or play on Broadway (Sweeney Todd, Nine, Shakespeare, Williams, etc) but if the same idea is presented in the film world, it's an abomination!!?
Why is that?
