"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Funny thing about this play. Right before my college freshman year (I'm a senior now), the college believed that the film Spinning Into Butter was going to be filmed on our campus (Dickinson College.) So, for our required summer reading, we were suppose to read the play and our fall production was going to be the play. Then, we found out that SJP wanted to be closer to her family in NYC so decided to film the movie at Drew University (which is actually in the town next to my hometown and which is also where they filmed scenes from The Family Stone). The funny part is that very visibly in the trailer are the red Adirondack chairs that Dickinson College is famous for.

As for the play, it's not bad. Not brilliant either. Sort of hoping the movie will be better.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel.

It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known.
