"A hot rush of rock and eroticism... bracing and utterly original... Spring Awakening lives up to its almost fevered buzz...." James Hebert, San Diego Union-Tribune

"Spring Awakening" is sure to become the touchstone musical for coming-of-age teens in the 2000s … captures ---- particularly in its lyrics and choreography ---- the confusing, awkward, thrilling moment of teen sexual awakening”

“The excitement and terror of youth are on display in Spring Awakening. If that’s not something you care to relive, send your kids. They’ll love it.” Jean Lowerison/San Diego Gay & Lesbian Times

“YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS SHOW!!! With rock and roll music, unparalleled and spellbinding staging, innovative lighting, and a killer new cast, the entire piece is unprecedented and glorious!” Alice Cash/San Diego TheatreScene
Saw this on Saturday night and it definitely wasn't sold out. I had balcony seats, but the usher told us that we could move at intermission since there were plenty of better sears available. So I went from a mid balcony seat to the 2nd row orchestra:)
It was my first time seeing the show, but from what I've read around here, the fans tend to skew a little younger. Which is why I was shocked to see so many older audience members...the majority of them were probably 40+.
I stage doored with all the teenage fans (I'm not "old" by any stretch of the imagination, but I was one of the oldest people in line...) and the cast was incredibly> gracious. Each actor engaged each fan and took the time to not only sign and take pictures, but ask how everyone enjoyed the show. They seem excited for the tour, since this is the very beginning of it. We'll see how they feel at the end:)
Overall, enjoyable experience for my first time seeing it!

Saw it Saturday matinee. On stage seat right next to Kyle Riabko! I am glad I saw SA in New York last December because on stage tickets are definitely better after you have seen it from the audience seats!
