Spring Awakening Understudies...

Hi -

I was wondering if anyone saw Spring Awakening last summer at the Atlantic Theater. I saw it twice and once I saw it with Phoebe Strole in the role of Ilse and an understudy as Anna. Her name was Devin Rush, I think. Well, I was wondering if she is still connected to the show because I was very impressed. She looked really young compared to the ages that I know Lea Michele and some other cast members are. I would love to know what happened to her because she was great.

Neither of the off-Broadway covers, Devin Rush or Michael Mahany continued on to the Broadway production.

Sorry I mispelled. It's Devyn Rush with a "Y." Does anyone know why there are different understudies now? I wonder if they old ones are doing different shows now. Maybe I'll try Google. If anyone knows, I'd like to know.

Devyn is an absolute darling I met a while ago. She was with the show for a while but did not travel to Broadway with it.

You probably saw it at Atlantic when I saw it. It was the first time Devyn was on all summer. A saturday matinee, correct?

They weren't guaranteed a transfer I don't think.

Michael Mahany recently did High School Musical in Atlanta.

Yeah, it was a matinee. I don't remember what day of the week it was, probably a Saturday though. I met her after the show that day. Was that really her first time going on? Wow. I just googled her and it looks like she was on Law & Order too. It would be nice to know what else she has done in theater. I never saw Michael Mahany go on, but cool about High School Musical.

It was towards the end of the run. When she told me it was her first performance, I was very surprised. Such a talented, amazing girl.

We met a very long time ago at the HAIRSPRAY stage door, just as she was about to workshop SPRING AWAKENING. When she landed the gig in the Atlantic's production, and I showed up at her first performance, we exchanged info and talked for a while. Sadly, though, I've lost touch with her.

I hope she's finding some work now. She's truly a talented, star in the making.
