Spring Awakening:
The cast is oh so talented. I loved Jonathan Groff and Lea Michelle, as well as the rest of the cast.
Loved the set as well as the lighting and how the two meshed. I liked how the lights would be used to focus on several items in the set (funny how the set was somewhat similar to the Sweeney Todd revival which played in that same theater). I loved the innovative lighting.
Costumes suited the show well.
The book still needed work. I understand the circumstances and I still think that it was very creative...I just wish there were a better way to do it...although I could not think of one...however it wasn't a horrible book...it was very good, I just wish it could have had some alterations.
The music was excellent. So original. Very different from the Duncan Sheik I am used to (a la 'Wishful Thinking'). My favorite songs were Whispering and I Don't Do Sadness.
One note I would have to add is that the second act was MUCH better than the first act.
The Apple Tree:
Set: What set?
Costumes:....
Cast: Chenoweth recieved an entrance applause and she was FANTASTIC. I have never seen her perform before, so it was a real treat. I also enjoyed D'Arcy James as I had only seen him in the NAMT presentation of 'Emma'. Marc Kudisch was also great.
There really isn't much to say about this show. Although I really did enjoy it.
I thought the costumes were excellent in The Apple Tree with the exception of Eve's robe and dress.
I also loved the set for the show to it was so nice to see nothing.
